Title Lord of Raventree
Allegiance House Blackwood
Books

Lord Tytos Blackwood is the head of House Blackwood of of Raventree Hall, a noble house of the Riverlands.

Appearance

Tytos has close-cropped salt-and-pepper beard and a hook nose.[1] He is tall and thin[2] and often wearing a magnificent raven-feather cloak. He's noted to be a skilled warrior and friend of the Starks in the North.

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Lord Tytos fought at the Battle of Riverrun, leading the remnants of the Riverlands force back within the walls of Riverrun[3] During the Battle of the Camps, he led a sortie from the castle that took the Lannister forces in the rear and rescued Ser Edmure Tully.[4] After the victory, he, being a follower of the old gods, joined Robb Stark in praying in the godswood. During the war council afterward, Lord Tytos suggested pressing against the Lannisters by joining with Roose Bolton's host and marching against Harrenhal.[1]

A Clash of Kings

While Lord Tytos had been with the Tully army, his lands had been overrun by westermen. Given leave by King Robb to do so, Lord Tytos swept the Lannisters off his lands, but was left with nothing but a desert and his keep, Raventree Hall.[5]

A Storm of Swords

Lord Tytos was among the seven nobles who launched the funeral boat of Lord Hoster Tully.[6]

A Feast for Crows

After the Red Wedding, the old enemies of the Blackwoods, House Bracken, re-swore fealty to the Iron Throne and attacked Blackwood lands. After the fall of Riverrun, Raventree Hall became the last Stark loyalist stronghold in the south. There, Lord Tytos and his men held out against Lord Jonos Bracken. Lord Karyl Vance implored Ser Jaime Lannister to go to Raventree to end the siege.[7]

A Dance with Dragons

After refusing to surrender to Jonos Bracken, Tytos surrenders to Jaime Lannister, giving up some land to House Bracken and sending some gold and silver to the Iron Throne, and sending his son Hoster with Jaime as a hostage. During the parley with Jaime, Tytos states that Lord Walder Frey's fourth wife Alyssa was a Blackwood, but kinship and guest right count for little at the Twins. His son Lucas Blackwood was slain as a guest at the Red Wedding, and Tytos requests to Jaime that his son's bones be returned so he can see him decently buried, which Jaime agrees to.[8] When departing Raventree, Jaime Lannister thinks Blackwood had more honor in him then Jonos Bracken.
