FA Pages

My Apologies, saw you restored. I shouldn't of assumed that they went with the one tagged for deletion.   Hooper   raven    contribs    email   14:17, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

The one marked fr delineation was a typo, this why I never delete anything that is not mine directly but put it as delete request, so others may review it. But dont worry about it, I was actually thinking that delete them was the right thing todo, since I hate when they clutter my the special reports... the only reason I created them, with everything in but the content was to make the job of editing easier, to help anyone who is not familiar with structure be able to contribute as well.
Btw, nice job with COA, CTRL click/paste/tab and cleaning up effort. cheers Mor

References Format

I think that this was being discussed a little on the forum but I don't feel like searching for the right thread. I'm not sure I think your new in text citation format is better than the old way. For one I have gotten used to typing the old one out from habit, and for two the new way looks like a jumble of letters that mean nothing to me. I can't argue against you using it when making new references, but it just makes everything confusing if you start going back and altering the citations already in the page, at least until we can all conclusively agree on a format. kissed.by.fire 14:41, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

I see the idea you are going for, but someone (I don't remember who) decided to make the standard for references book name, chapter name for ADWD and future references. This was in an effort to eliminate the use of chapter numbers, as the chapters are not numbered in the books, and some people use the prologue as chapter one and others count the prologue as chapter zero. I support the reasoning behind this decision. I haven't noticed any ADWD references that you've changed, but what did you have in mind for that? I think the idea was also to go back and change AGOT - AFFC to eliminate the use of the chapter numbers. It just seems like a lot of work to go through and shorten the references now when the ultimate goal is to change them away from using the chapter numbers because they will again have to be altered when the first four books' chapter summaries are changed away from the number system. Maybe we should focus on fixing the system first, and then when past references are changed we could kill two birds with one stone and shorten the references as well as eliminate the chapter numbering system at the same time? What do you think? kissed by fire 18:02, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Personally, I dont see any benefit in eliminating the use of chapter numbers, IMO its easier to work with them, but that doesnt mean that we cant do both. Here is the thread on the topic, I havent changed any of the summaries pages naming ADWD or otherwise, if we decide that ADWD like naming convention is preferable for summaries pages or otherise it's exactly the something to me(either redirect to one or to another, both will have to be kept for compatibility sake). as for Template:Ref Template, the best thing about it that we are not limited, no matter what we decide and how many changes we make in the process, it's always one edit away from working, no need to concern ourself with thousands of pages that need editing. Collapsible tables

Yes it does not look very nice (especially with image present). But it is a begin. I think your version without border and background is the best. But I think it looks better without including the book title I think. Maybe we should ask some of the others. Scafloc 09:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Category:Houses without COA

Hi Mordin999, is category already complete? If not there may be a other way to get a list of houses without COA. Usually the only picture on House article is the COA. So we could make a custom made select that selects from the tables that the wiki software uses all entries (articles) that being House and for which there is no entry in the table that stores the links between article and image. It would require to get some knowledge about the tables and for Ran to store the query so it can be called by users. But in the end I think it is less time intensive then going through all house articles one by one. I have some documentation about the tables at home but at this moment I am actually on holiday so it will have to wait a few weeks. Cheers,Scafloc 08:11, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

So the category is made with the help of the NobleHouse template. Pretty cool! I thought that you were planning on going through all the Noble Houses and adding them one by one. That is why I suggested the query as an alternative solution. But this (using the template) is way better; nice work. Scafloc 09:20, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Copying from Wikipedia

Mordin999, we are allowed to use the material from wikipedia provided that we acknowledge the use and link to the original (=wikipedia) page. To do that I made Template:EnWP. The only parameter that it needs is the name of the wikipedia article for instance "Template:Infobox". For more information see AWOIAF:Copying_from_Wikipedia and this discussion. Scafloc 18:13, 18 August 2011 (CDT)

sure, if you are referring to my "shameless copy pasting" of the infobox, it's and other are still WIP and will be stamped with the documentation and licencing information once i am done with code, otherwise you'll have to point me in the right direction. cheers Mor 18:57, 18 August 2011 (CDT)

King's Guard COA

I don't see a difference between the file on the wiki and the one of tinypic. So I think it has worked. I am not a big fan a gradient myself but for the King's Guard COA, and perhaps other COa's that have only one colour, it looks ok. Scafloc 18:16, 8 October 2011 (CDT)

If you see no difference, then it must be some kind of cache problem on my side, wired I tried CTRL+F5 several times... Anyway, about the COA, I only wanted to cut out the white space bellow and added the gradient as an after thought, it might work for other one colour COA as you said(nights watch?) but I think, I better leave the artistic direction to the experts ;) Mor 20:28, 8 October 2011 (CDT)

Chapter summaries

Thanks! I'll keep at it :). Monkeytypist 00:16, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Image uploads

Hi, Mordin. Yes, I did use the "upload a new version of this file" option. For the most part it has been working well, but I noticed that there is some sort of cache that, for lack of a better wording, takes a while to realize that the file has changed. The 50-pixel thumbnails are still a bit confused, with scarlet lower corners. But I expect that problem to solve itself spontaneously in a day or two. LuisDantas 11:25, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Renames

I was tempted, to be sure. But it felt right to go all the way at once. Almost left some for later, but it edge ever so close to completion... :) LuisDantas 23:51, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

I wonder if we have some bot expert in-house. It sure would be nice to have the redirects changed automatically. One of these days I will try to learn. LuisDantas 23:53, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
