Alias Bronze Yohn
Title Lord of Runestone
Allegiance House Royce
Books

Lord Yohn Royce, better known as Bronze Yohn, is the Lord of Runestone and head of House Royce. He is sworn to House Arryn. He has three sons, Andar, Robar and Waymar, all knights. He has a set of bronze armor, thousands of years old that is inscribed with runes that ward him from harm.[1]

Appearance

He is tall. His face is lined and he has grey hair. However he still looks immensely strong with large, gnarled hands. He has grey eyes and very bushy eyebrows.[2]

History

He was defeated by Prince Rhaegar Targaryen at the Tourney at Harrenhal.[3] Lord Yohn is a tourney knight, taking part in the Tourney at Lannisport, where he was defeated by Ser Jorah Mormont.[4] He defeated Thoros of Myr in the melee at the Tourney for Prince Joffrey's 12th Name Day with a common mace after the fire of Thoros' sword had guttered out.[5]

[6] Lord Tywin Lannister offered his son, Tyrion for marriage within the House, but was rejected.[7]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

He came north with his son, Waymar, when his son joined the Night's Watch. He took part in the Hand's Tourney in King's Landing, attending with his sons.[8] He stayed in King's Landing, participating in a boar hunt with the king, a boar hunt which killed Robert I.[9]

A Storm of Swords

Yohn was mentioned as a suitor of Lysa Tully by Ser Kevan Lannister.[7] According to Lysa herself, he is pressuring her into participating in the War of Five Kings, presumably in defense of Riverrun against the Lannister forces.[10]

A Feast for Crows

After the death of Lady Lysa Arryn, Lord Yohn brought five other lords of the Vale to Runestone where they signed a document forming the Lords Declarant, which demanded that Lord Robert Arryn be surrendered to their care and that various counselors be dismissed from their posts, speaking about Lord Petyr Baelish without mentioning him.[11] Lord Yohn held a small melee at Runestone only for squires. Harrold Hardyng won the melee and Lord Yohn knighted him as his reward.[12]
