The Father, also called the Father Above,[1] is one of the seven aspects of a single deity. Believers of the Faith of the Seven consider their god to be one with seven aspects, as the sept is a single building, with seven walls.[2]
Culture
[edit]The Father, who is always depicted as a bearded man,[2] rules[3] and represents judgment.[4][5] He can be prayed to for justice.[2] Septons teach that the Father protects his children,[6] to whom he gives gifts,[7] and that he has a golden hall.[8]
Weddings are conducted standing between the altars of the Father and the Mother.[9][10]
Upon someone's death, the phrase "May the Father judge him/her justly" is often used.[11][12][13]
There is a holy day in the calendar of the Faith of the Seven celebrating the Father called the Feast Day of Our Father Above. According to the septons, it is a most auspicious day for making judgements.[14]
Some of the doors at the Great Sept of Baelor are known as the Father's Doors.[15]
Holy brothers of the Faith shave the crown of their head to show they have nothing to hide from the Father.[16]
History
[edit]The Faith of the Seven teaches that the Father pulled down seven stars from the heavens and set them on the brow of Hugor of the Hill, thereby making him a glowing crown.[17] The Father and the Mother are said to have made mankind in their image.[7][18]
