Ferret was a street child from Flea Bottom in King's Landing during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen.
Character
Ferret could climb well.[2] Ferret's friend, Dunk, grown to adulthood, considered himself and his childhood friends both beggars and thieves, as well as "little monsters".[2]
History
When Ser Duncan the Tall was an orphan child in Flea Bottom, Ferret was one of his friends, along with Rafe and Pudding. They once stole a rotting head from a spike atop one of the walls of King's Landing. Ferret climbed the wall to grab the head, after Rafe and Pudding dared him, but when the guards came, he threw the head down and Dunk caught it. The four friends used the head to terrorize the girls of Flea Bottom, chasing them through the alleys and making them give the head a kiss before they let them go. Dunk and his friends kept the head until it turned black and the flesh started falling off, which made it less fun to chase girls. One night, they broke into a pot shop and threw what was left of the head into the kettle.[2]
In 212 AC, Duncan saw the decapitated head of the hunchbacked septon on the walls of Stoney Sept, and was reminded of his childhood friends' adventures with the head in King's Landing.[2]
Quotes
—thoughts of Ser Duncan the Tall
Better a beggar than a thief. He had been both in Flea Bottom, when he ran with Ferret, Rafe, and Pudding, but the old man had saved him from that life.[2]
