Inspired by the S2 poster edits of Rhaenyra and Aegon, TargaryenArryn pitched me the idea for a commission that would focus on the two siblings as the faces of their respective faction and as the two sides of the Dance of the Dragons, while also including Alicent - whose 'rival' for the face-off, in this scenario would most logically be Aemma (both their bloodlines clashing against each other).

For the 'third act' of this piece, whe considered to have each claimant's original heir (Jacaerys and Jaehaerys), but ultimately it felt more thematically appropriate to have Aegon III and Jaehaera. Shireen Baratheon put it best: "Two scared children spouting oaths they didn't understand. All that was left of the mighty House Targaryen."
