Garth of Oldtown is a ranger of the Night's Watch. He comes from Oldtown.

A Storm of Swords
Garth is among the members of the Night's Watch who accompany Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, on the great ranging. Garth survives the fight at the Fist and is among the survivors who make it to Craster's Keep. Garth is skeptical about Samwell Tarly having slain an Other, and he is one of the brothers who complain loudly about Craster hoarding food. After Bannen dies, Garth and Tim Stone swing his body into the funeral pyre. During the mutiny, Garth is killed by Garth of Greenaway, though Sam does not know why.[2] Later at Castle Black, Jon Snow is informed that Garth of Oldtown had been among the men who turned against Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.[3]
