Gerold Lannister, called Gerold the Great, was a King of the Rock of House Lannister of Casterly Rock. His regnal number is undetermined, but he is known to be a successor to King Gerold III.[1][2]
History
In an ultimate indignity to the declining power of the driftwood kings, Gerold the Great sailed his fleet to the Iron Islands in a daring raid, taking a hundred ironborn hostages. He kept them at Casterly Rock afterwards, hanging one every time his shores were raided.[2] True to his word, Gerold hanged more than twenty of the hostages.[1]
