Manfred Swann was the Lord of Stonehelm and the head of House Swann after the reign of King Aegon V Targaryen.

History

Ser Barristan Selmy squired for Ser Manfred in his youth.[1][2] Manfred Swann became the Lord of Stonehelm no earlier than 260 AC.[N 1]

Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

After first meeting Daenerys Targaryen at the port of Qarth, Ser Barristan Selmy, presenting himself as the squire "Arstan Whitebeard," claims to have squired for a knight of Lord Swann's household in his youth.[3]

A Storm of Swords

When Barristan Selmy confesses his true identity to Daenerys, he amends his story and says he squired for Lord Swann himself in his youth.[2] His service with Swann is recorded at the beginning of his long entry in the White Book of the Kingsguard by Lord Commander of the Kingsguard Gerold Hightower, where Hightower refers to Manfred Swann as "Ser" rather than "Lord."[1]

Notes

  1. ↑ Barristan Selmy remembers to have squired for "Lord Swann" in his youth.[2] However, according to the White Book, Barristan "served as squire to Ser Manfred Swann", which implies Manfred had not been the Lord of Stonehelm yet at the time Gerold Hightower began to write Barristan's entry in the book.[1] Barristan was named to the Kingsguard in 260 AC, after the War of the Ninepenny Kings.[1]
