Morgil Hastwyck was a knight from House Hastwyck who lived during the reign of King Aegon IV Targaryen.[1]

History

Ser Morgil is renowned for slandering Queen Naerys Targaryen and being killed by her brother, Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, in trial by combat.[2][1] According to Grand Maester Kaeth's Lives of Four Kings, these accusations were instigated by Aegon IV himself, who was at the time quarreling with his son and heir, Prince Daeron.[1]

Quotes

Well, the singers embroider everything, but there was a Ser Morgil and he did accuse Naerys of various things... probably adultery and treason with Aemon, but I haven't nailed all that down yet....[3]

Why, every child in Westeros knows how Prince Aemon the Dragonknight championed his sister Queen Naerys against Ser Morghil's accusations.[4]

Behind the Scenes

Morgil's name is once misspelled as "Morghil" in A Feast for Crows.[4]
