A rector is a member of the Citadel tasked with enforcing discipline among the novices and acolytes of the Order of the maesters.[1]

[edit]After arriving at the Citadel, Samwell Tarly sees rectors locking an older novice into stocks so he may be pelted with rotting vegetables by other acolytes. One of the rectors explains that the captive acolyte had stolen food from the kitchens.[1]
