- The marches were common battlegrounds between the Stormlands, the Reach and Dorne until the last century, when Dorne joined the Seven Kingdoms, Having been conquered by the Storm Kings, It serves as an effective buffer zone between the old enemies of the Reach and Dorne.
The punctuation here was ambiguous, so I edited it in the way that made most sense to me - Dorne was never conquered, by the Storm Kings or otherwise, and besides, the Storm Kings ceased to exist during the Conquest so could not have conquered it only 100 years ago. However, The Reach states that the Dornish Marches are ruled by Tyrell bannermen, which possibly contradicts this. I can't correct this without knowing what the sources for all this information are.
