==Synopsis==
[[Catelyn Stark]] has remained confined to [[keep of Riverrun|the chambers]] of her weakening father, [[Hoster Tully]], with her brother [[Edmure Tully|Edmure]] spending his time instead with [[Marq Piper]] and [[Patrek Mallister]]. Catelyn was happy to see Ser [[Robin Ryger]] return to [[Riverrun]] without [[Brienne Tarth|Brienne]] or [[Jaime Lannister|Jaime]], however; Maester [[Vyman]] revealed that Robin's river galley had been sunk. Catelyn does not know, however, why about forty men, including Ser [[Perwyn Frey]] and [[Martyn Rivers]], angrily left after trampling Robb's banner on the day of Edmure's return from the [[Battle of the Fords]].

When Robb finally returns to Riverrun, Catelyn is brought to the crowded [[Great Hall of Riverrun]] by Ser [[Desmond Grell]]. A crowned Robb publicly praises Edmure for his victory in the [[Battle of the Fords]]. Catelyn notices an unknown family near Robb.

Catelyn is warmly greeted by her uncle, Ser [[Brynden Tully]], and Robb says that he had taken a wound during the [[storming of the Crag]] but it has healed well. Lord [[Rickard Karstark]] is unhappy to see Catelyn, as she had released Jaime, the slayer of Rickard's sons [[Eddard Karstark|Eddard]] and [[Torrhen Karstark|Torrhen]]. Robb is more gentle and acknowledges that "love is not always wise". Thinking about her daughters, [[Sansa Stark|Sansa]] and [[Arya Stark|Arya]], whom she had hoped to trade for Jaime, Catelyn agrees. Lord Karstark, however, is unappeased and leaves the room in a fury. 

Robb has [[Utherydes Wayn]] end the session. [[Maege Mormont]] and the [[Jon Umber|Greatjon]] are happy to see Catelyn, but [[Galbart Glover]], [[Jason Mallister]], and [[Jonos Bracken]] are less friendly. 

When the Great Hall is nearly empty, Robb introduces his mother to [[Sybell Westerling]], her brother [[Rolph Spicer]], and her children [[Raynald Westerling|Raynald]], [[Eleyna Westerling|Eleyna]], [[Rollam Westerling|Rollam]], and [[Jeyne Westerling]], the last of whom Robb calls his lady wife. Catelyn immediately realizes that, as Robb was pledged to marry a Frey, he has insulted [[House Frey]] and broken the alliance. But with his "love is not always wise" speech Robb has made it impossible to blame him, as Catelyn disobeyed him because of her love for her daughters.

Robb tells her how he met his new wife. He had taken a wound storming the [[Crag]], and Jeyne nursed him back to health. The night he was told his brothers [[Bran Stark|Bran]] and [[Rickon Stark|Rickon]] were [[capture of Winterfell|supposedly murdered]], Jeyne consoled him and they slept together. Robb [[wedding of Robb Stark and Jeyne Westerling|married her the next morning]] out of honor.

As the [[House Westerling|Westerings]] were vassals of [[House Lannister]], Jeyne has taken her family with her to escape the revenge of the Lannisters. Catelyn notices that [[Grey Wind]] is not with her son, because Jeyne is afraid of the direwolf, and the beast growls whenever her uncle, Ser Rolph, is near. Catelyn does not like that and convinces Robb to send Rolph off on some errand, for Grey Wind should always be near him. She considers what it may take to appease Lord [[Walder Frey]] after this slight. The loss of the Freys is strongly felt by Robb, and there was nothing that could be done when [[Ryman Frey|Ryman]] and [[Walder Frey (son of Ryman)|Black Walder]] led their men back to the [[Twins]]. 

In Lord Hoster's private audience chamber above the Great Hall, Edmure tells his uncle Brynden about his victory against the Lannisters. Brynden interrupts Edmure, however, and the Blackfish and Robb berate Edmure for his actions. Edmure was told to not to engage the Lannisters because Robb wanted them to come west. His plan was to hold them in the [[westerlands]] so that the Lannisters would be unable to defend [[King's Landing]] against [[Stannis Baratheon]]'s attack. Edmure's attack delayed [[Tywin Lannister]] long enough for messengers to reach him, allowing the Lannister host to turn around, link up with [[Mace Tyrell]]'s army and arrive at King's Landing to turn the tide at the [[Battle of the Blackwater]]. Edmure asks to make amends and volunteers to leead the van in the next battle. Robb plans to retake the [[north]] from the [[ironborn]], but first he must win back the Freys. Robb says there must be something he can give to soothe Walder Frey's pride, to which Catelyn responds, "Not something. Some''one''."
