Like most [[Dothraki]], Drogo has [[copper]]-colored skin,{{ref|AGOT|3}} thick black hair,{{ref|AGOT|11}} and almond-shaped eyes{{Ref|AGOT|46}} the color of [[onyx]].{{ref|AGOT|3}} Tall and muscular, he moves gracefully like a [[panther]].{{ref|AGOT|3}} The ''[[khal]]'' has a long, black moustache,{{ref|AGOT|46}} and he binds his thick mustachios with [[gold]] and [[bronze]] rings.{{ref|AGOT|3}} A long black braid, scented with oils{{ref|AGOT|3}} and decorated with [[Bells (Dothraki)|tiny bells]] of [[silver]]{{ref|AGOT|11}} or gold,{{ref|AGOT|46}} hangs down to his thighs, symbolizing his status among the Dothraki as an undefeated warlord.{{ref|AGOT|3}} [[Daenerys Targaryen]] thinks that Drogo has a hard and cruel face when she is introduced to him.{{ref|AGOT|3}}

A skilled warrior,{{ref|AGOT|3}}{{ref|AGOT|61}} the ''khal'' can be tender{{ref|AGOT|11}} and protective.{{ref|AGOT|54}}

The bare-chested{{ref|AGOT|46}}{{ref|AGOT|61}} Drogo wears horsehide trousers{{ref|AGOT|46}} and painted vests,{{ref|AGOT|54}} with his favorite vest being old and faded.{{ref|AGOT|72}} He owns a heavy belt of solid gold medallions{{ref|AGOT|46}} and a wide belt with heavy medallions of silver, gold, and bronze.{{ref|AGOT|54}} The ''khal'' wields an ''[[arakh]]'',{{ref|AGOT|68}} a whip,{{ref|AGOT|72}} and a [[dragonbone]] bow.{{ref|AGOT|72}} Drogo's favorite [[horse]] is a [[Drogo's stallion|lean red stallion]], unnamed, as it is not a Dothraki custom to give individual names to animals.{{ref|AGOT|23}}

Drogo has a wooden feasting hall with timbered walls and a [[silk]] roof in the sacred Dothraki city of [[Vaes Dothrak]].{{ref|AGOT|36}} He also possesses a [[Drogo's manse|nine-towered manse]] in [[Pentos]], given to him by the city's ruling [[magister]]s as part of their policy of bribing the Dothraki not to loot the [[Free City]].{{Ref|AGOT|3}}
