Jeor has an immense bald head{{ref|AGOT|19}}{{ref|AGOT|48}} with a spotted scalp,{{ref|ACOK|6}} and his shaggy grey beard covers much of his chest.{{Ref|ACOK|6}}

Lord Commander Mormont has a gruff{{ref|AGOT|19}}{{ref|ASOS|32}} and stubborn{{ref|ADWD|69}} manner which intimidates [[Samwell Tarly]].{{ref|AGOT|48}}{{ref|ACOK|6}} Ser [[Denys Mallister]] considers Jeor to be strong and fierce.{{ref|ASOS|79}}

Jeor wears a cloak of thick black fur,{{ref|ASOS|Prologue}} and for formal occasions he wears a black wool doublet with silvered [[bear]]claw fastenings.{{ref|AGOT|48}} He is always accompanied by his [[Mormont's raven|pet raven]], which constantly demands corn.{{ref|AGOT|19}}{{ref|AGOT|21}}{{Ref|ACOK|6}} The Lord Commander rides a tough little garron{{ref|AGOT|52}} and resides in the [[Lord Commander's Tower]] at [[Castle Black]].{{ref|AGOT|52}} Jeor's short-hafted battle-axe has [[gold]] scrollwork inlaid on black [[steel]].{{ref|ACOK|23}} He also has a sword{{ref|ASOS|33}} and wears a steel knife on his belt.{{ref|ACOK|43}} Jeor possesses [[Longclaw]], the ancestral [[Valyrian steel]] bastard sword of [[House Mormont]], although he does not regularly carry it.{{ref|AGOT|60}} When on campaign he resides in a big black tent.{{ref|ASOS|Prologue}}

Still strong despite his advanced age,{{ref|AGOT|21}} Jeor believes he still has his teeth due to his habit of putting [[lemon]] in his [[beer]] everyday.{{Ref|AGOT|70}} His favorite [[wine]] is a robust red.{{ref|ACOK|34}} The Lord Commander is accustomed to rising at first light.{{ref|AGOT|70}}
