While most of the Iron Islands lie in [[Ironman's Bay]], there is a smaller group of thirteen islands{{Ref|TWOIAF|The Iron Islands}} clustered around the Lonely Light lying eight days sail northwest of [[Great Wyk]].{{Ref|AFFC|19}} It lies well into the [[Sunset Sea]] and is probably the most westerly location in the [[known world]]{{Ref|TLOIAF|The Known World}} aside from the isles [[Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya (islands)|Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya]].{{Ref|FAB|The Long Reign - Jaehaerys and Alysanne: Policy, Progeny, and Pain}}

The Lonely Light is surrounded by [[rookeries]] of [[seal]]s and [[sea lion]]s and ocean.{{Ref|AFFC|19}}{{Ref|AWOIAF|Lonely Light}} Some say that [[House Farwynd of the Lonely Light]] and their [[smallfolk]] sleep with seals to birth half-human children, and others claim they are [[skinchangers]] who take the forms of sea lions, [[walrus]]es, and spotted [[whale]]s.{{Ref|TWOIAF|The Iron Islands}}
