Since the Andals were outnumbered by the defeated First Men, the victorious newcomers pursued a policy of consolidating control over the native Westerosi instead of extermination. [[Godswood]]s were allowed to remain in many castles to prevent conflicts over [[religion]] as the [[Faith of the Seven]] spread throughout southern Westeros.
