The queen fears that her younger brother, [[Tyrion Lannister]], is moving in secret passages, and that the vanished [[Varys]] has allied with [[Stannis Baratheon]].{{Ref|AFFC|3}} Ser [[Jaime Lannister]] and guards unsuccessfully search for Tyrion and Varys.{{Ref|AFFC|3}}{{Ref|AFFC|8}}{{Ref|AFFC|12}} The undergaoler [[Rugen]] has also disappeared.{{Ref|AFFC|7}}

With Queen [[Cersei Lannister]] having been arrested by the [[High Sparrow]], her uncle, Ser [[Kevan Lannister]], takes up residence in the Red Keep as [[Lord Regent]].
