==History==
During [[Greyjoy's Rebellion]], [[Balon Greyjoy]] declared himself [[King of the Iron Islands]], with Alannys as his queen. Her eldest two sons, [[Rodrik Greyjoy|Rodrik]] and [[Maron Greyjoy|Maron]], were killed during the rebellion, however, and her youngest son, [[Theon Greyjoy|Theon]], was taken by Lord [[Eddard Stark]] as a hostage when Balon submitted to King [[Robert I Baratheon]].{{ref|AGOT|4}}

With Theon away at [[Winterfell]], Alannys brought five boys, including [[Tristifer Botley]], to [[Pyke]] to foster.{{ref|AFFC|11}} Alannys raised her daughter, [[Asha Greyjoy]], to be bold.{{ref|AFFC|11}}

As time passed, Alannys began to roam the halls of Pyke in search of her lost sons, even walking the rope bridge to the [[Sea Tower]] while barefoot; a maester often had to draw splinters from her heels.{{ref|AFFC|11}}

Alannys eventually moved to [[Ten Towers]] to live with her sister, [[Gwynesse Harlaw]], as [[Harlaw]] is less raw than [[Pyke (island)|Pyke]].{{ref|ACOK|11}}
