==History== ===Ancient History=== The line of the Storm Kings dates back to the Age of Heroes when their kingdom was founded by King Durran Godsgrief, a legendary hero.TWOIAF The First Men warred with Andals when the newcomers invaded the stormlands, but the two peoples eventually made peace and intermarried.TWOIAF The Storm Kings at timesTWOIAF ruled much of the eastern half of Westeros, an area reaching from Cape Wrath to the Bay of Crabs.FAB Their dominion was protected from Dorne and the Kingdom of the Reach by the Dornish Marches,TWOIAF and they conquered the riverlands from House Teague.TWOIAF The riverman resented Durrandon rule, however, and some joined Harwyn Hoare, King of the Iron Islands, when he took the Trident from Arrec Durrandon.TWOIAF ===The Conquest=== The Storm Kings' power dwindled in the centuries before Aegon's Conquest. The Kings of the Reach from House Gardener nibbled at their domains in the west, Dornishmen were threats to the south, and Harren Hoare, King of the Isles and the Rivers, took lands north of the Blackwater Rush. King Argilac Durrandon managed to stop this decline for a while, but by the time of the Conquest Argilac had grown old and his prowess at arms had faded.TWOIAF During the Conquest, Orys Baratheon, one of Aegon Targaryen's fiercest generals and his rumored bastard brother, slew Argilac the Arrogant, last of the Storm Kings, in the Last Storm.TWOIAF Orys married Argilac's daughter Argella Durrandon and adopted the sigil and words of his wife's ancestral line, creating House Baratheon of Storm's End, with his descendants having the blood of the Durrandons flowing in their veins.AGOT
