==History==
Yoren suffered a shoulder injury that made it impossible for him to fight well any longer. He has spent the past thirty years traveling the [[Seven Kingdoms]] and recruiting for the [[Night's Watch]] as a [[wandering crow]]. His travels frequently bring him to [[Winterfell]], thus Yoren knows the members of [[House Stark]] and has a certain loyalty to them. He has lost only three recruits: an old man who died of a fever, a city boy bitten by a [[snake]], and a man who foolishly tried to kill Yoren in his sleep and was then slain by the recruiter.{{Ref|ACOK|9}}

Yoren brought [[Chett]] to the [[Wall]] after the criminal was judged by [[Walder Rivers]].{{ref|ASOS|Prologue}}

[[Jeor Mormont]], [[Lord Commander of the Night's Watch]], would be willing to have Yoren or [[Conwy]] collect [[Craster's sons]], but the Night's Watch instead allows [[Craster]] to give his sons to the wood so that [[Craster's Keep]] remains a refuge [[beyond the Wall]].{{ref|ACOK|23}}
