Meris and the [[Windblown]] participate in the [[siege of Astapor]]. The [[Tattered Prince]] sends her along with several dozen [[Westeros]]i members of the company to secretly go over to [[Daenerys Targaryen]]; the captain does not have faith in the [[Yunkai|Yunkish]] commanders and wants to ensure the Windblown will be on the winning side. Meris is displeased when [[Dick Straw]] mentions he has slept with her several times.{{Ref|ADWD|25}}

Meris is arrested with the other Windblown when Prince [[Quentyn Martell]] reveals to Daenerys the intentions of the Tattered Prince. Daenerys eventually orders that Meris be released as a gesture of her regard and brought back to the Tattered Prince, stating to Ser [[Barristan Selmy]] that if the Tattered Prince is a clever man he will understand her gesture.{{Ref|ADWD|50}} Meris tells Barristan that the Tattered Prince has wanted to betray Yunkai from the beginning, and the captain decided to join Daenerys in the hopes she will grant him [[Pentos]].{{Ref|ADWD|52}}

Meris is present when the Tattered Prince meets with Quentyn and his two companions, Ser [[Gerris Drinkwater]] and Ser [[Archibald Yronwood]], at the [[Purple Lotus]].{{Ref|ADWD|60}} 

Quentyn hires the Windblown to try and capture one of Daenerys's [[dragon]]s, and Meris forces some [[Brazen Beasts]] to give them their daily code word.{{ref|ADWD|68}} Meris and the rest of the men flee when they see how dangerous [[Viserion]] and [[Rhaegal]] are and that they cannot be reliably controlled.{{Ref|ADWD|68}}{{ref|ADWD|70}}
