Besides the savage [[Sothoryi|Brindled Men]], particularly the ghouls and cannibals from the deep jungles, Sothoryos is home to many fatal [[disease]]s, including blood boils, [[green fever]], [[dancing plague]], [[sweetrot]], [[bronze pate]], the [[Red Death]], [[greyscale]], [[brownleg]], [[wormbone]], [[sailor's bane]], [[pus-eye]], and [[yellowgum]].{{Ref|TWOIAF|8|3|4}}{{Ref|TWOIAF|2|8}}

The [[Zamoyos]] and other streams are home to [[crocodile]]s and swarms of carnivorous fish capable of stripping a man's flesh in minutes. The continent swarms with stinging flies, venomous [[snake]]s, wasps and worms that lay their eggs beneath the skins of [[horse]]s, hogs, and men alike. [[Basilisk Point]] is full of the [[Basilisk|eponymous animals]], some of which are twice the size of [[lion]]s.{{Ref|TWOIAF|8|3|4}}

Sothoryos contains hairy [[ape]]s in its jungles,{{Ref|AFFC|18}} and the forests south of [[Yeen]] are said to be the home of apes that dwarf the largest [[giants]], capable of killing [[elephants]] with a single blow.{{Ref|TWOIAF|8|3|4}}

Farther south, in the [[Green Hell]], there are reports of white vampire [[bat]]s that can drain the blood of a man in minutes, [[tattooed lizard]]s that run down their prey and rip them apart with long curved claws on their hind legs, snakes fifty feet long, spotted [[spider]]s, and terrible [[wyvern]]s.{{Ref|TWOIAF|8|3|4}} There are [[monkey]]s that walk like men, basilisks, and a hundred different kinds of deadly snakes. The jungle also contains flies, whose bite results in a fatal disease with symptoms including bleeding from all orifices and the skin sloughing off. Even the freshwater contains minuscule parasitic worms that lay eggs within anyone who drinks it.{{Ref|FAB|11}}
