After escaping from Harrenhal, Arya spies a pack of wolves crossing a valley stream. She howls at them, and the largest of the pack lifts its head and howls back. Soon after, Arya has a wolf dream where she is a huge and powerful wolf. She and a great pack of wolves fight a group of Brave Companions who are pursuing Arya and her companions. When a [[Dothraki]] [[sellsword]]'s [[horse]] kicks in the head of one of her wolf sisters, Arya-as-Nymeria tears off his arm in rage.{{Ref|ASOS|3}}

While traveling near [[Maidenpool]], [[Jaime Lannister]] and [[Brienne Tarth|Brienne]] of [[Tarth]] hear the howling of many wolves during the nights.{{Ref|ASOS|21}}

At [[Stoney Sept]], Arya dreams of wolves stalking through a wet wood. She is surrounded by her pack, and together they run down a [[horse]] and feast on it. When the [[moon]] breaks through the clouds, she howls at it.{{Ref|ASOS|29}}

When Jaime and Brienne dine at Harrenhal with Lord Bolton, he reports that packs of wolves are among the threats prowling the riverlands.{{Ref|ASOS|37}}

Sheltering in the stables of a [[Burning septry|burned]] [[septry]] with the [[brotherhood without banners]], Arya hears the howling of many wolves all around the stable. They sound very close, numbering the dozens or possibly hundreds. In the morning, the brotherhood's scouts do not find any wolves.{{Ref|ASOS|39}}

After escaping the [[Red Wedding]] with the [[Sandor Clegane|Hound]], Arya dreams of wolves almost every night. In the dreams, she leads a great pack of wolves and is the biggest and fastest of them all. She outmaneuvers and fights horses and [[lion]]s and even scares off men. The many brothers and sisters of her pack are fierce and hers. While with her pack in another dream, she catches the scent of her [[Catelyn Stark|mother]]. Following the scent, she finds her body and pulls her from the river. She urges her to rise and run with her pack. When a group of men approaches, some of her younger brothers bare their teeth at them, but she snaps at them, and the wolves run away.{{Ref|ASOS|65}}

After the fight at the inn at the crossroads, Arya has another dream where she chases a riderless horse with her pack behind her.{{Ref|ASOS|74}}
