In order to match her brother [[Tyrion Lannister|Tyrion's]] personal power base of [[sellsword]]s, Queen [[Cersei Lannister]] calls on the [[High Septon (Fat One)|High Septon]] at the [[Great Sept of Baelor]] as cover for secret meetings with the [[House Kettleblack|Kettleblack]] brothers, who are supposed to hire other sellswords for her. Unbeknownst to Cersei, however, the Kettlebacks are already being paid by [[Bronn]], Tyrion's captain.{{Ref|ACOK|41}} Ser Osmund sells Cersei's secrets and provides Bronn with information about Cersei's moves.{{Ref|ACOK|49}}

After Ser [[Boros Blount]] is stripped of his white cloak for cowardice on the [[Rosby road]], Cersei names Osmund to the [[Kingsguard]]. Tyrion thinks the appointment gives him another agent close to King [[Joffrey I Baratheon]].{{Ref|ACOK|49}}

Osmund and his brothers become great favorites in the [[Red Keep]], getting along with both servants and [[highborn]]s with their easygoing manner and their humor. It is rumored that they get best along with the serving wenches, although Osmund's position in the Kingsguard implies celibacy. Osmund eventually takes the position next to Joffrey that used to be reserved for [[Sandor Clegane]], and [[Sansa Stark]] hears servants saying Osmund is as strong as the Hound, but younger and faster. Osmund and Ser [[Meryn Trant]] guard King Joffrey during the [[Battle of the Blackwater]].{{Ref|ACOK|57}} When Joffrey goes off to catapult the [[Antler Men]] into the [[Blackwater Rush]], Tyrion warns Osmund to keep the king safe and in the city.{{Ref|ACOK|59}} When Osney tells Cersei that the [[River Gate|Mud Gate]] has come under attack by a ram, however, she issues an order for Osmund to bring the king from the city back to the Red Keep. Osmund's brothers, Osney and Osfryd, receive their [[knight]]hoods after the Battle of the Blackwater.{{Ref|ASOS|4}} Cersei has the Kettleblacks retrieve Prince [[Tommen Baratheon]] from [[Rosby]].{{Ref|ASOS|4}} [[Varys]] informs Tyrion that Cersei has been flirtatious toward Osmund.{{Ref|ASOS|12}}

Ser Osmund is one of the Kingsguard assigned to bring Sansa to the [[royal sept]] for her marriage to Tyrion Lannister. While Meryn's mere look promises violence, Osmund speaks to Sansa kindly and convinces her to come along quietly. During the feast, Osmund laughs when Tyrion mocks King Joffrey.{{Ref|ASOS|28}}

When Joffrey chokes at [[Purple Wedding|his own wedding feast]], Osmund rips open the king's collar in an attempt to save the boy king.{{Ref|ASOS|60}}

Lord [[Petyr Baelish]] reveals to Sansa that he had Oswell send his sons to [[King's Landing]] when Bronn was hiring sellswords for Tyrion, and thus the Kettleblack brothers have been secretly in his employ all along, unbeknownst to Cersei and Tyrion. However, Petyr believes the brothers are too treacherous to have been trusted with his scheme to kill Joffrey, and that Osmund has become especially unreliable since he was named to the Kingsguard.{{Ref|ASOS|68}}

Ser Osmund and Ser [[Boros Blount]] bring the news to Cersei that Tywin is dead. Cersei has Osmund escort her to the [[Tower of the Hand]], where she finds that Tyrion has also killed [[Shae]] in Tywin's bed. Queen Cersei orders Ser Osmund and his brothers to secretly dispose of Shae's corpse. Cersei tells them that what they do with the corpse is of no concern, as long as nobody knows she was ever there.{{Ref|AFFC|3}} Cersei also orders Ser Boros Blount and the Kettleblacks to kill two sleeping gaolers, which upsets Jaime.{{Ref|AFFC|8}}
