Craster was a wildling. He was the master of Craster's Keep beyond the Wall. He was once a powerful-looking man, but nearing the end of his life. His hair was grey turning to white. He had a flat nose and a drooping mouth, which gave him a cruel look and one of his ears was missing, which he had lost to the cold.[1]

Craster begrudgingly allowed the Night's Watch to stay at his keep overnight during their ranging beyond the Wall.
