Ib
Ib or Ibben is the largest island of the island nation of Ibben,[1] and the second largest island in the Known World behind Great Moraq.[2] It is the location of the largest Ibbenese city, Port of Ibben, along its southern coast.
Forests grow along the western and eastern shores, and are populated by bears and wolves. Giants also dwelt on Ib, but none remain. There are also mammoths on the plains and hills, and in the higher mountains, some claim unicorns can be found.[2]
Gold, iron, and tin are abundant in the mountains of Ib, whereas timber, amber, and hundreds sorts of pelts can be found in the island's forests.[2]
The city of Ib Nor is situated along the northern shore of the island. Off the southern coast of Ib is the Bay of Whales and small islands, while the moderately-sized island Far Ib is farther to the southeast.[1]
Behind the Scenes
George R. R. Martin describes Ib as being the size of Iceland.[3] Its name may be a reference by Martin to Ib, an ancient city mentioned in "The Doom that Came to Sarnath" by H. P. Lovecraft.
