Cerrick was the maester at Coldmoat at the start of the reign of King Aerys I Targaryen. He was in the service of Lady Rohanne Webber.
Appearance
[edit]Cerrick was a young man in 211 AC. He is homely, with a pinched face, dark brown eyes, and a great hooked nose. Despite his youth, in his grey maester's robes and chain collar he has an air or somber wisdom that belies his years. Cerrick rode a mule.[3]
History
[edit]Cerrick came from the Iron Islands. The maester designed the dam of the Chequy Water, which caused a conflict over the river between Lady Rohanne Webber of Coldmoat and Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast. Lady Rohanne requested Cerrick attend her when Ser Duncan the Tall came to Coldmoat to treat with her over the matter of the dam. She ordered Cerrick to show him the proof that the Chequy Water belongs to her, and Cerrick presented Dunk with the grant of rights to the stream marked with the seal of King Daeron II Targaryen.[3]
After Ser Duncan the Tall defeated Ser Lucas Inchfield in a trial by battle, Maester Cerrick treated his wounds. Cerrick was able to revive Duncan after he had drowned in the river during the battle, due to his study of the kiss of life used by priests of the Drowned God. Duncan's squire, Egg, worried about poison, forced Cerrick to first taste anything he wanted to give the knight while Duncan was still unconscious.[3]
