Cayn is a guard sworn to House Stark.[1] He has a son, Calon.[2]

Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
As a guard of House Stark, Cayn accompanies Lord Eddard Stark to King's Landing. He is one of the few northern guardsmen who remain with Ned after the death of Jory Cassel and the departure of Alyn.[3]
After the death of King Robert I Baratheon, Cayn is slain by Sandor Clegane during the arrest of Eddard.[4]
A Clash of Kings
Theon has a nightmare of eating with the dead at Winterfell, including Cayn.[5]
A Dance with Dragons
Theon recalls Cayn among the dead of Winterfell.[6]
