The dungeons of the Great Pyramid of Meereen are in proximity to the pyramid's pit.[1] Slaves are tortured in the nearby torture chambers.[2]

A Dance with Dragons
Westerosi members of the Windblown, the feigned deserters, are imprisoned in the dungeons. Among the known prisoners are:
- Meris,[3] later released by Daenerys Targaryen and sent back to the Tattered Prince.[3]
- Orson Stone[4]
- Dick Straw[4]
- Hugh Hungerford[4]
- Will of the Woods[4]
Archibald Yronwood and Gerris Drinkwater are later confined to the Great Pyramid's dungeons due to their role in Quentyn Martell's attempted theft of and the loosing of Rhaegal and Viserion.[5]
When he becomes the Queen's Hand, Ser Barristan Selmy visits Archibald and Geris in the dungeons. He questions them and then offers them their freedom; so long as they carry out a mission for him, he intends to send them back to the Tattered Prince.[5] Barristan wants them to deliver a secret message to the Tattered Prince. In exchange for the Windblown coming over to the queen, he will give the Tattered Prince what he desires: Pentos.[5]
