Florence Fossoway and her husband, Martyn Tyrell, by Jaydeewis
Lady of Highgarden|
Master of coin (unofficially)
|Spouse(s)||Lord Martyn Tyrell|
|Book(s)||Fire & Blood (mentioned)|
Florence married young Martyn Tyrell, Lord of Highgarden and Warden of the South. After her marriage, Florence took charge of the accounts of Highgarden and increased the incomes of House Tyrell by over a third.
When a new master of coin was needed by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, his Hand of the King, Septon Barth, put forward Lord Martyn's name. In truth, he intended that Florence would perform the duties of the office, as she would be brought to court with her husband. The king also hoped that Lady Florence's presence at court would be welcomed by Queen Alysanne Targaryen, who had not been attending council sessions since the death of her daughter. Although her husband officially sat on the small council and was given the title master of coin, Florence was effectively in charge of the treasury.
