Ghael is an envoy of King Cleon of Astapor. He is a former slave.[1]
Appearance
Ghael is pale, with a long thin face and brown rotted teeth. He wears a large amount of jewelry.[2][1]
Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
Ghael is sent to Meereen on board the Indigo Star to offer terms for a pact between King Cleon and Daenerys Targaryen. Among the terms was an offer to combine forces to attack Yunkai, and marriage between the two leaders.[2]
A Dance with Dragons
Cleon sends Ghael again as an envoy to Daenerys Targaryen in Meereen, this time as a titled lord (of what, they are unsure). He gives a gift of slippers and this time only offers an alliance against Yunkai.[1] Daenerys refuses him and advises against attacking Yunkai.[3]
Cleon ignores Daenerys's advice and attacks Yunkai. Ghael is later sent before Daenerys again and begs that she send Unsullied to protect Astapor. Daenerys refuses him yet again, prompting the envoy to spit in her face. Belwas slams Ghael into the ground, smashing his teeth, before he is dragged out of court by his feet.[3]
