The Goodwife was the first fool at the royal court in the Red Keep.[1] His given name is unknown.
Appearance and Character
The Goodwife was a fat man who dressed as a woman, and said ribald, shocking things with his wooden "children", a pair of carved puppets.[1]
History
The Goodwife was among the many artists brought to the Red Keep by Queen Alysanne Targaryen after her husband, King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, began to rule in his own right.[1] When Alysanne relocated to Dragonstone for her second pregnancy after the death of Prince Aegon, the queen was accompanied by her lady companions and the Goodwife to entertain them.[2]
