Prince Aegon Targaryen was the eldest child of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and Queen Alysanne Targaryen. He was named Aegon in honor of both Aegon the Conqueror and their deceased brother Aegon.[2][3] He was born too early, however, and died three days after being born.[2]

Alysanne blamed Aegon's early birth and subsequent death on the women who had attacked her at Jonquil's Pool at Maidenpool, believing that if she had she been allowed to bathe in the pool and its healing waters, Aegon would have lived.[2]
