Husband is the spouse of Sharna, the innkeep of the Inn of the Kneeling Man. His given name is unknown.

Appearance

Husband has sallow skin with a pocked, pudgy face.[1]

History

Husband and his wife Sharna were displaced during the War of the Five Kings. They had two sons, one of whom was killed by Lannister men, whilst the other died of the flux, but they later adopted an orphaned boy whose mother had been killed by the Brave Companions. They came upon the Inn of the Kneeling Man and found the previous owners dead, so buried them and took over running the establishment.[1]

Husband meets Brienne, Ser Jaime Lannister, and Ser Cleos Frey when they come to the Inn of the Kneeling Man. After feeding them, he sells them the three horses he has in his barn for three gold dragons and their skiff.[1] When the travelers depart the inn, Husband advises them to travel south by east once they reach a nearby village. Brienne choose a different route, however, fearing that he intended to lead them into an ambush by outlaws.[1]

Husband is present when Arya Stark, who had been captured by the brotherhood without banners, reveals her true identity to Harwin.[2]

Quotes by Husband

Jaime: Now there's an honest innkeep. They'll all serve you stale bread and stringy meat, but most don't own up to it so freely.
Husband: I'm no innkeep. I buried him out back, with his women.[1]

Quotes about Husband

Cleos: But this is the road the innkeep warned us against.
Brienne: He was no innkeep. The man took too great an interest in our choice of route, and those woods ... such places are notorious haunts of outlaws. He may have been urging us into a trap.[1]
