Palestone Sword

The Palestone Sword is a tower at Starfall. It is presumably named after Dawn, the legendary pale greatsword of House Dayne.

History

Ser Arthur Dayne died at the tower of joy during Robert's Rebellion. Lord Eddard Stark then traveled to Starfall to return Arthur's sword, Dawn, to House Dayne.^[1] Some time after Eddard's visit, Ashara Dayne, Arthur's sister, jumped from the top of the Palestone Sword into the sea.^[2] Differeing reasons have been offered for Ashara's decision to commit suicide: a broken heart,^[2] because of her stillborn daughter,^[3] because of a stolen child,^[4] for the "man who had dishonored her at Harrenhal",^[3] or due to grief over Arthur's death.^[2] Her body was never found.^[5]
