Rolland Darklyn was a knight of House Darklyn. He was a member of the Kingsguard at an unknown time, one of seven members from House Darklyn.[1]
History
Ser Rolland was given his white cloak on a battlefield. Until the naming of Ser Jaime Lannister to the Kingsguard, he had the distinction of being the youngest to ever don the white cloak. He died within an hour of receiving it.[1]
Recent Events
A Feast for Crows
When Brienne of Tarth sees the seven white swords displayed on the sign above the Seven Swords inn at Duskendale, she recognizes they represent the seven Darklyns who served in the Kingsguard,[2] including Rolland Darklyn.[1]
Jaime Lannister tells Loras Tyrell about many past Kingsguard, including Rolland Darklyn's short service. Loras judges that he can't have been very good, but Jaime says he was good enough, as his king lived.[1]
