Any thought's, ideas, suggestions on the current sketch?

I like it a lot. Good work! I wish it could be a bit less wide, however. And the tv series banner is not as eye-catching as the others above it. Some sort of higher contrast "tv series" text would be welcome. Or maybe a whitey background color to mesh with the other banners, while also emphasizing the "HBO" letters... Unfortunately atm I cant do anything about the HBO banner, I am suffering again from the reuploaded problem, so it will have to wait or if you find something better feel free to redo it. As for the width, no problem, thou, what do you want shorten the banners or the whole column? Because, I intentionally set the right column to a fixed size, if you suffering from some layout problem tell what screen res do you use, so I can adapt it accordingly.

Basically what I had in mind was to:

  1. Remove the 'What keeps us occupied' section, it's a dead section, a forum link would be better.
  2. Replace the Portal links with banners, so they will be more visible and their content more accessible.(yes I am no artist, if you guys can do a better job please do).
  3. adapted the colour scheme to a more westerosy like colours.

Additionally I want to:

  1. move the 'A fan-created wiki...' text to either the 'About the Wiki' section or under the 'main wolf title bar'.
  2. Redo the 'main wolf title bar', thou I have no Idea how...
  3. Replace the wiki banner with this one, to avoid some of the pointless dead space above, but I have got no replay on this so far :(

@ASHaber, it's my intention to remove those links from the 'Template MainPage Banner'. I can't do it atm since doing so will effect the Main page and I dont want to bother with additional test pages. --Mor 00:05, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

My netbook is almost always at 1024 x 600 pixels. As for the wiki banner, I see that the proposed change saves some vertical pixels. I see no problem in using it instead of the current one. LuisDantas 00:29, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Damn, I really hoped you wouldn't say 1024 wide... In this case, we got 200px for the left bar, so we are left with ~800(minus padding, borders, etc). so I'd fix the right bar to 400 and the middle one will be 400+. --Mor 02:27, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
my cache finally kicked in, so I re-uploaded the HBO banner, hopefully it will provide a better contrast to the other ones as you wanted (as before I wont be able to see it for some time, because of the damn re-upload problem) --Mor 10:19, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Resources

As promised here is the resources file for the new banners link, If some fixes would be needed when I am not around or if someone want to improve upon my basic digital manipulation skills. The files are all made in the free Pain net, which is very much like the basic Paint only with layers its simple and lightweight so even I can use it(sorry in advance for advanced user who like gimp or photoshop but I dont have the skill/money for it) --Mor 21:36, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
