The old gods of Valyria[1][2] are a pantheon of deities that were worshiped by the Valyrians. Balerion, Vhagar, Meraxes, and Syrax, were among the many gods revered in the Freehold.[3][4][5][6]

Although the dragonlords themselves worshiped these gods, they were highly tolerant of other faiths and thus the Valyrian Freehold was very religiously diverse. After the Doom of Valyria, this religion continued because many of the Old Blood that dwelled within the Black Wall of Volantis kept to the worship of the Valyrian gods.[2] They were also honored through the Targaryens naming some of their dragons after the gods, despite the Targaryens themselves converting to the Faith of the Seven.[4][5][1][6]
