==Appearance==
Dothraki typically have [[copper]]-toned skin, black hair,{{ref|AGOT|11}} and black,{{ref|AGOT|46}}{{ref|AGOT|61}} almond-shaped eyes.{{Ref|AGOT|11}}{{Ref|AGOT|54}}{{Ref|ASOS|23}}

Dothraki men wear their hair in long braids, oiled{{Ref|ACOK|12}} or greased with fat from the rendering pits.{{Ref|AGOT|11}} Dothraki warriors carry small [[Bells (Dothraki)|bells]] in their braids, which ring softly when they move.{{Ref|AGOT|3}} They are only allowed to braid their hair after they have won a victory.{{ref|AGOT|36}} A bell is added to their braid after each victory;{{Ref|ACOK|63}} The braid is only cut when a Dothraki warrior is defeated in battle,{{Ref|ACOK|12}} an act through which he lets the world know his shame.{{Ref|AGOT|3}} Only few men die with their braids never having been cut off.{{ref|ACOK|12}} Men further might wear metal rings bound in their mustachios.{{Ref|AGOT|3}} 

Both men and women might wear painted leather vests over bare chests and horsehair leggings cinched by [[bronze]] medallion belts,{{Ref|AGOT|11}}{{Ref|AGOT|54}} although wealthier Dothraki might also have [[silver]] and [[gold]]en medallions on their belts.{{Ref|AGOT|46}} Others might wear sandsilk trousers.{{Ref|AGOT|64}}{{Ref|AGOT|72}}{{ref|ASOS|27}} For footwear Dothraki wear leather boots,{{Ref|AGOT|68}} leather sandals which lace up to the knee,{{Ref|AGOT|46}}{{Ref|AGOT|64}} or sandals of woven grass.{{Ref|ACOK|63}} However, when visiting the [[Free Cities]], the Dothraki wear rich fabrics and sweet perfumes.{{Ref|AGOT|11}}

Being accustomed to riding [[horse]]s every entire day, Dothraki warriors walk with a bowlegged swagger on the ground.{{Ref|ASOS|27}}

The Dothraki scrub themselves clean with sand.{{Ref|ACOK|12}}
