Ser [[Davos Seaworth]] is able to swim away from the [[Battle of the Blackwater]] into [[Blackwater Bay]]. When he wakes up, Davos finds himself on a stony strand beside a broken mast, a burned sail, and a dead man; all three of which wash away at high tide. The feverish Davos eats [[crab]]s and drinks rainwater, but he fears he will die of thirst, hunger, or exposure.{{ref|ASOS|5}}

Davos eventually sees a ship in the distance. Deciding he wants to live, Davos prays to the [[Mother (the Seven)|Mother]] and climbs as high as he can on the rock to get the attention of the sailors.{{Ref|ASOS|5}} Davos is rescued by ''[[Shayala's Dance]]'' and taken to [[Dragonstone (island)|Dragonstone]].{{ref|ASOS|10}}
