Onion Rock is Ser Davos Seaworth's name for a small island in Blackwater Bay, one of the spears of the merling king.
Geography
[edit]The spire of the tiny island reaches fifteen feet above the water at high tide. A hollow in the rock beneath an overhang serves as a cave. Only lichen grows on the isle, but tiny crabs can be found on the stony strand. Gulls sometimes land on the spire. Rainwater can fill pools and cracks.[1]

[edit]Ser Davos Seaworth is able to swim away from the Battle of the Blackwater into Blackwater Bay. When he wakes up, Davos finds himself on a stony strand beside a broken mast, a burned sail, and a dead man; all three of which wash away at high tide. The feverish Davos eats crabs and drinks rainwater, but he fears he will die of thirst, hunger, or exposure.[1]
Davos eventually sees a ship in the distance. Deciding he wants to live, Davos prays to the Mother and climbs as high as he can on the rock to get the attention of the sailors.[1] Davos is rescued by Shayala's Dance and taken to Dragonstone.[2]
