Although the small council became more formal during the reign of his grandson [[Jaehaerys I Targaryen|Jaehaerys I]],{{Ref|FAB|Three Heads Had the Dragon - Governance Under King Aegon I}} King [[Aegon I Targaryen]] established his councillors early on.{{Ref|TWOIAF|The Targaryen Kings: Aegon I}} During his [[royal progress]]es, Aegon the Conqueror also traveled with six [[maesters]] who educated him on each region's local [[customs]] and [[Timeline of major events|history]].{{Ref|FAB|Three Heads Had the Dragon - Governance Under King Aegon I}} The following men are known to have filled the various offices:
