The Isle of Faces is a sacred island in the middle of the lake called God's Eye, Located in the Riverlands. It's the only known location of weirwoods in the south of Westeros, the others having been cut down and burned.[1]
History
At the end of the Dawn Age, following centuries of fighting between the First Men and the children of the forest, this island is where the First Men and the children of the forest signed the Pact ending of the wars between them. In celebration, every weirwood on the island was given a face, So the gods would witness the pact.[2]
With the signing of the Pact, the order Green Men was formed, to tend the last remaining weirwoods in the south.[3]
Meera tells Bran a story about a Crannogmen who travels to the Isle of Faces. He remains there for a while before traveling to a tourney. The tale is called Knight of the Laughing Tree in the Year of the False Spring.[4]
