The Winds of Winter is the forthcoming sixth novel in the award-winning epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. It takes place after the concurrent fourth and fifth books in the series, A Feast for Crows (2005) and A Dance with Dragons (2011).
Characters
By June 2010, Martin had finished four chapters for The Winds of Winter, from the viewpoints of Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, and Arianne Martell.[1] In July 2010, he added that an Aeron Greyjoy chapter had been moved from Dance with Dragons to Winds of Winter, and reported that now over 100 pages had been written for the book.[2]
Martin has also stated that the character split occurring in A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons will end with The Winds of Winter.[3] He went on to say that the characters introduced in the latter two books would be the last point-of-view characters added to the series (aside from one-off prologue and epilogue characters).[3]
