History
[edit]Tom Turnip was a royal jester and fool at court in the Red Keep during the late reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[5]
Myrielle Peake was one of the candidates to marry King Aegon III Targaryen in 133 AC, but the King expressed doubt about liking Myrielle, causing Lord Peake to compare the King's potential marriage with Myrielle to the situation of the king having to eat turnips when his cooks prepared them. When word got out, Myrielle was soon known throughout the Seven Kingdoms as Lady Turnips.[6]

Three-Finger Hobb cooks a special meal for Jon Snow's Night's Watch recruitment group ready to become men of the Night's Watch and swear their oaths, which included "mashed yellow turnips swimming in butter", with Hobb also preparing "salads of spinach and chickpeas and turnip greens".[8]
