The wealth of House Martell

How wealthy are the Martells? Because of the circumstance that Dorne produces excellent wine and exotic fruits, they must have a kind of wealth which would make them rich, richer than other. Not like the Lannisters or the Tyrells, but could it be that they are at the third place? --Exodianecross (talk) 19:43, 2 February 2016 (CST)

I don't think that's stated anywhere.--Rhaenys Targaryen (talk) 16:29, 3 February 2016 (CST)
I understand. It's somehow implied that the Martells have a degree of wealth because of their goods. But from the description in the books it seems to be sure that Dorne is richer than the North for example! --Exodianecross (talk) 19:11, 9 February 2016 (CST)

Nymeros Martell

I've checked and the only mention of "Nymeros Martell" I can find is in ASoS Tyrion V, where he once calls Oberyn "Oberyn Nymeros Martell". How do we know this isn't just a middle name? --Potsk (talk) 15:47, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

The "Nymeros Martell" part is also mentioned in the appendices; Doran is listed as "DORAN NYMEROS MARTELL, Lord of Sunspear, Prince of Dorne". Either both brothers have the same middle name (I don't think we have other examples usage of middle names in ASOIAF), or House Martell changed to House Nymeros Martell after the marriage of Princess Nymeria and Lord Mors Martell. I don't know if "Nymeros" is supposed to be a masculine version of Nymeria or a combination of their names, however. --Thomaerys Velaryon (talk) 16:20, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
GRRM has commented on the matter, as well. The Wondering Wolf (talk) 16:29, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Ah. "Nymeros indicates 'of the line of Nymeria'". I see. Thanks. --Potsk (talk) 17:37, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
