The Red Book was written by an unknown Yunkish man, and translated centuries later by Maester Elkin. The book details the history of the fighting pits of Meereen, and makes reference to the fact that many Ibbenese women who had been sold into slavery ended their days in the fighting pits of Meereen, Yunkai, and Astapor, as they were considered to be too ugly to serve as bed slaves, and too savage to be used as field hands, by the slavers.[1]
