Brandon Stark, known as Brandon the Shipwright, was a King in the North and a head of House Stark. His son, Brandon the Burner, followed him on the throne.[2]
Appearance
The statue of Brandon in the crypts of Winterfell is tall and has a dreamy face.[1]
History
Known as Brandon the Shipwright due to his love of the sea, King Brandon sailed the cold waters of the Sunset Sea.[3] Thousands of years before Aegon's Conquest, Brandon built an entire fleet of ships[3] and attempted to sail west across the Sunset Sea, but was never seen again.[1] It is known that he never visited Asshai.[4] His tomb in the crypts of Winterfell is empty.[1]
Brandon's son of the same name burned his father's shipyards and remaining ships in his grief,[1][3] and is thus known as King Brandon the Burner.[1]

Maester Luwin has Bran Stark tell Osha about statues of historic Starks in the crypts of Winterfell, including Brandon the Shipwright.[1]
A Clash of Kings
While leaving the crypts after the sack of Winterfell, Bran sees the statues of several Kings in the North, including Brandon the Shipwright's.[2]
A Storm of Swords
Bran tells the story of Brandon the Shipwright to Hodor and Meera and Jojen Reed.[5]
A Dance with Dragons
While visiting the crypts with Lady Barbrey Dustin, Theon Greyjoy recalls the names of some statues, such as Brandon the Shipwright's.[6]
