After Princess Arianne Martell and her party disembark from the Peregrine at Weeping Town Arianne sends Ser Daemon Sand to the Broken Shield in order to gather intelligence, as she knows its common room is rife with rumors.
In the Broken Shield, Ser Daemon is told that the great septry on the Holf of Men has been burned and looted by raiders from the sea, and a hundred young novices from the motherhouse on Maiden Isle were carried off into slavery.[1]
That night, Arianne dispatches the first of her ravens back to Dorne, reporting to her father on all they'd seen and heard.[1]
